Assignment 3B Cell Phones and Privacy

There are many legitimate uses for prepaid cell phones. This is because nowadays to have a cell phone it usually comes with a plan. These plans could be too expensive for some people to pay therefore making it so they have no phone. But with these great prepaid cell phones it makes it affordable to most people. Most of the people that get these phones aren't criminals and are just using them because it is the only kind of phone they could afford. These phones also gives kids a sense of responsibility to see if they can handle a phone before they get a real one with a plan and if they are using it wisely.Therefore these phones should not be banned from the public and should be left alone. 

Assignment 3B Location Tracking

If we start putting chips in everyone we basically lose our own sense of privacy. This is because someone out there would know where you are at all times therefore having no privacy. The risk of this are really none the only thing i could think of is that if the chip malfunctioned and did harm to your body. I believe that the benefits do outweigh the risk. This is because if you get kidnapped or lost someone would always find you and get you back. Therefore there would be less crime dealing with kidnapping because the criminal will be aware that the kid could be traced. If you think about the guy that was stuck in the rock for 127 hours he would not have had to cut his arm off because they could have found him. I believe that parents do have the right to put a chip in you until a certain age at which they must take it out probably around 15. This is because it is better that a parent knows where you are at a young age and doesn't have to worry all the time. For example if you go to the park without telling them they dont have to start freaking out they could simply just look on the tracking device and see that you are okay. The reason why i said that it should be taken out at 15 is because that is when the kid is responsible for themselves and shouldn't have to be tracked by their parents. When your a teenager your are going to lie and there is no need for the parents to make sure you're not where you told them you're going to be. For example if you say you are going to a friends house but then you go to a party the parents shouldn't be able to trace you they should trust you. If there was a bill that said children under 5 had to have chips i would agree with it. This is because at that young of an age they tend to wander off and in some cases get lost it would be great if the parents could just located them from the chip. I would also agree with putting them in for senior citizens because they aren't going to be doing anything horrible and its just better to know where they are at all times so they dont do something crazy. Therefore after all these chips should be put in young children and senior citizens just so we know where they are for their own safety. 

Assignment 3A

The course i am taking is talking about the internet and how it is good, bad, and sometimes very ugly. This is a very interesting class and i enjoy it very much.
